The end of the school year is fast approaching. I am working diligently to get our ducks in a row. We have a few more lessons to complete and too few weeks in which to complete them. I’m guessing we will be schooling into our summer once more. I am working on updating the portfolio and getting papers graded and entered into the records. I’m updating the transcript and making every effort to stay on top of it all. I do not want to be panicking when we come to the end of our homeschool journey and make every effort to keep records updated as we go.
This year I will sadly, not be able to attend the Florida Home-School convention. We have a conflict that can’t be avoided. I’m feeling a little glum to miss the hoopla, but thrilled that I pretty much know what we want for next years curriculum. The only question I have is regarding Math. This past year we took (actually still are taking it) Geometry with Mr. D. It was great! We currently have a curriculum that was purchased two years ago for Algebra II. It’s great except it was recorded 30 years ago and my daughter can’t get past the out of date clothing. She watches the videos and instead of focussing on the skills she’s learning, she’s thinking about the odd clothing that the person presenting the lesson is wearing. I think we need to look at other options. I love Mr. D Math, but the cost is somewhat prohibitive for us. I’ve heard a great deal about The Life of Fred Curriculum. I’d love to get my hands on that and see if it could be an option for us. I’ve heard so many opposing views though, that I feel the need to hold it in my hands and read through some before spending more money on it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
