We were introduced to “The Homeschool Movie Club” a few weeks ago and signed up for an opportunity to preview “A Dog’s Purpose” which comes out on the 27th of January. We went to see it last night. It’s a good entertaining family movie. There were several funny comments and scenes and some sad upsetting ones as well. Your emotions run the full gamut. In my opinion, the previews gave away a bit too much and there were no real surprises. But overall, “enjoyable”.
Here’s what sort of got my goat. I struck up a conversation with a fellow homeschooler sitting next to me. We were sitting in the midst of a “regular” theater. I was talking about how spoiled we’d become with the new theaters that are emerging, the ones that have reclining chairs and cup holders that fit your cups. I actually had the thought that I’m not very comfortable (when in truth I was perfectly comfortable). His comment in return was that he just wanted popcorn at a reasonable price. And in truth, popcorn at movie theaters is, for sure and for certain, over priced. But when you are at a movie with a family of 4 and they have given you this outing for “nothing”. It’s not asking too much to buy a tub of popcorn that will feed your entire family, and a drink that you can share for “$17”. I understand if you can’t afford it. I admit there have been times when I’d bring water from home and baggies of popcorn in my purse. But I wouldn’t grumble over price when I’m getting everything else for free. Just my opinion! I’m working this year on being more grateful for the things we have and are given. Now if I can just get a handle on gumping over other people’s opinions. 🙂
